Topo Map 62 N/7 Baldy Mountain

Baldy Mountain is the highest point on a long series of highlands known as the Manitoba Escarpment. It stands in the southeast corner of Duck Mountain Provincial Park, a land of rolling terrain, dense woodland forest, wetlands, and deep blue lakes. It is reminiscent of Timm’s Hill, Wisconsin.

From Grandview, Manitoba, travel north on Highway 366 for 20 miles to Duck Mountain Provincial Park. Continue another 1.5 miles to a point where a small dirt road branches off to the left. Follow this dirt road about 1 mile to the summit of Baldy Mountain. Strap on crampons before climbing the gnarly steps of the wooden observation tower.
